Building Virtual Worlds (BVW) is the first class I took at the Entertainment Technology Center. Through fifteen weeks I worked on five different teams exploring the rapid prototyping of interactive virtual worlds. Check out the BVW page for more info!

In Short

My name is Sean McChesney and I am a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center. I enjoy working in a collaborative environment that allows for the creation of products beyond the potential of a single skill set. My hobbies include photography, soccer and sailing in my free time from school. I am a creative individual who gets excited about new forms of technology. I will be graduating in May of 2013 and looking forward to moving into the wondrous field of Themed Entertainment.

Take Shape

Take Shape was a project in the Fall Semester of 2012 at the Entertainment Technology Center. I was responsible for the production schedule and fabrication for our team of six over the fifteen week project life. During this time we developed an interactive kiosk for the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to teach five year-old kids how to 3D model. Learn more about this project on the Take Shape Project page.

V.T. Online

V.T. or Virtually There, was a project I worked on in the Spring Semester of 2013 at the Entertainment Technology Center. As the producer and designer for a team of four I led the group through a fifteen week project cycle to develop a one-of-a-kind architectural proposal system that we hosted on the web. Using architectural models, Gigapan images and custom interactive content we produced an interactive virtual tour that is available to the public. Find out more on the Virtually There Project page.

BVW Class

BVW, or Building Virtual Worlds, is a class I took in my immersion semester at the Entertainment Technology Center. During the fifteen week semester I worked as producer, designer and artist on five separate teams ranging from four to seven members. This course was designed by the late Randy Pausch, a co-founder of the program, and it focuses on the combination of team work and rapid prototyping. It is a true meld of left brain/right brain capabilities. See examples of projects on the Building Virtual Worlds page.
